a jewish wedding Kabbalah in the Bedroom

“Everyday is like my wedding day” says Sanjay who will be celebrating his thirtieth wedding anniversary next year.   What is the secret of his wedded bliss to his lovely wife Leela? Sanjay says the secret to his happiness is Kabbalah.

“Kabbalah is making me younger while my wife is growing older!” jokes 50 year old Sanjay, an online student of the Kabbalah Bnei Baruch Learning Centre lead by Kabbalist Michael Laitman.

Kabbalah may be keeping Madonna young, but how does Kabbalah help my relationships? Or is  it just new age hype?

“In order to deal with ourselves and our partners, we must first of all become aware of our spiritual roots” says Michael Laitman.

True, Laitmanns version of Kabbalah concentrates on the  spiritual realm. Howver, many apply its principles in day to day life.

Authentic Kabbalah teaches  that the underlying Matrix of life that runs galaxies also runs your spiritual and personal life. With Kabbalah you can understand how the universe works, understand yourself, your relationships and direct your life. It also helps understand the principles behind religious texts.

This is a message also found in Tantra.

A Kabbalist emotionally engages with his studies. Like Job from the Bible, he argues with what he learns and monitors and learns from his emotional experience. You begin to realize that we have forgotten that man is one collective soul.

With renewed sensitivity you will awaken to possibilities to unite with our spouse and others. We are also better able to satisfy your partner’s needs.

Kabbalah explains that what we often call love is really our ego demanding satisfaction. Rather than  deny our desires, we elevate them to a higher purpose.

Love follows spiritual giving and commitment and not mutual attraction or chemistry. When men and women work together toward a spiritual goal, they connect spiritually and enjoy greater satisfaction. They have a higher goal and transcend their mundane conflicts and differences.

By being more receptive and enhancing the feminine nature, men are able we can respond to their environment. You can then seek empowering influences in our life.

According to Kabbalah, mutual spiritual growth is the most precious gift that happy couples can give each other. Their relationship acquires a deeper and genuine meaning, and they grow together on a path of happiness and fulfillment.

In Genesis G-d created the world with 10 utterances. Kabbalist’s explain these utterances are Sefirot of G-ds qualities that He manifest in masculine and feminine form. These qualities combined with G-d’s ‘speech to create all things.

There were also 10 parallel commandments given to Moses which established the 613 mtzvot or commandments that regulate Jewish life. Mitzvah also means connection. In Judaism, the commandments are a means to connect to G-d.

Similar patterns repeat throughout Torah. Just as the spinning electron mirrors the galaxy, the physical and psychological worlds reflect the spiritual The purpose of Torah is to reveal  these patterns and  teach principles that unify humanity.

A Kabbalistic metaphor says that the vessels G-d used during creation were broken and our work in life is to repair these vessels. Sex in a loving relationship is a powerful method for such repair. This is because  it allows you to reveal your most vulnerable side to yourself, your partner, and G-d.

“You give up freedom when you become a couple, but what you gain is holiness, a spiritual union – is of  much greater value ” wrote Rabbi Alllen Maller, author of God, Sex and Kabbalah Kabbalah in the Bedroom.

By satisfying your spouse’s deepest desires the gift of sexuality is elevated to the sacred. Your body is a temple and the bedroom the homes Holy of holies where you can rise from the bed to the heavens, he said.

By becoming conscious of our collective soul, reintegrating our male and female natures and learning pleasure of giving we return to G-d with renewed affection.

Kabbalah is about sensitivity and relationship. It’s not the Kama Sutra. However, being aware of our spiritual roots and connecting to our partner spiritually is profoundly satisfying.

In our fast paced society this may seem too esoteric. That is why Australian Mystic Rabbi Laibl Wolf, author of Practical Kabbalah: A Guide to Jewish Wisdom for Everyday Life Kabbalah in the Bedroom, recommends Kabbalistic principles from Chassidic psychology.

“The simple act of belief changes the terms of reference, shifts the paradigm – puts a new frame on the reality my eyes perceive and my ears discern,” writes Rabbi Wolf. “I know how beliefs create realities.”

“I have witnessed first hand how people who suffer from illness, relational pain, and intense empathy with people’s hurt, are literally heroes whose beliefs create cure, healing, and the spread of happiness. That is why Rabbi Wolf asks us to “take pride in creation and play your essential role to move it forward.”
