10 10 Undressing Divinely

In the Western world it sometimes seems that sexuality means ripping it all off or flaunting near nudity.

Gone is the subtly and seductive poise of a covered body. Eastern traditions place great  importance on sexually preparing the moment. Beautiful lights, pillows and perfumes that enhance the sense.

Then there is the art of the undress.

M G Sing, in his article The Art of Undressing a Hindu Woman may at first be thought, at least in the West,  to be writing a sex manual.

However, his tantric inspired article explains that “t is the First Step in Tantric Thought to Attain God.”

Divinity is seen through all things, so it follows that man’s quest towards self realization can also be obtained through sex.

Tantra is a vast belief system and like the deep ocean of Hindu thought its vastness is much greater than the sexual Tantra, which is about 2% of the whole.

“Hindu writers have accepted sex as something sublime” wrote Sing. “They also mention that that undressing a woman is an art by itself. It is the first step in the path to eternal bliss.”

“Vatsyayansa the high priest of sex mentions that undressing a woman is of paramount importance. It is the path to gladden a woman.”

Perhaps she is draped around the body and a blouse that fits the upper torso leaving the midriff bare. Almost always wearing jewelry, and possibly wearing a loose skirt, or ghagra, that touches the ankles.

While his suggested technique could not do justice to the full range of Hindu women. It does give us a picture of the intimate and spirituality of Tantric pleasure. Of slow and carefully revealing a woman to your love so that she will invite you further.

In Hindu Tantra, eye contact is an important first stage I this divine heiros gamos.

This is followed up with small kisses on the lips with soft endearments

“It is important to carry the Hindu woman to the bed in your arms and lay her prone on the bed” wrote Sing. “The bed itself should be large with clean sheets and pillows that give an orderly appearance.”

The erotic arts of the East encourage enjoying all the senses.

There is rush, this is not a Western movie plot where clothes fly off rapidly.

After  unhooking the blouse “slowly slide it of her shoulders” kissing her shoulders. Let her slowly enjoy the experience.

“Slowly pay your homage to the peaks with your lips till the  realization dawns on the woman that she is desired by the man” he said. “At the same time slowly take off her earrings and nibble the ears.”

Every step of the process is to be as sensual as possible.

Then kiss down to her navel then undo the cord of the Ghagra or the folds of the sari.

Again everything is slow and sensual, pampering her thighs with long adoring kisses

“Most ancient manuals lay great stress and importance on foreplay” wrote Sing.

In the divine dance of love, the man desires to be accepted before moving to the next intimate step.

Once accepted he may remove reveal her completely and gently part her thighs.

“Pay your homage to this most sacred part of a woman’s feminism with your tongue till her movements convey that she will welcome you. Once you have done these things, you are on the way to possession of the woman.”

In tantric Theory, the art of undressing a woman is a step in “a path to God and that can only be possible when you follow the step by step initiation of the Hindu woman for the ultimate act.”

On a physical level there is the mystery of procreation. However, there is a recognition of the feminine nature.

“ Hindu tantric theory shows sex as Hindu women by nature are shy and rousing them by these initial steps can be matter of great fulfillment for the man” he said.

Sacred Sexuality Empowering Men

Principles behind Tantra can be used even by those who resist religious sexuality.

The sexual practices used in Taoist, Tantric, Arabian and Japanese traditions both prolong sexual pleasure and raise it ecstasy. As the Bauer’s demonstrated these techniques do not require phallic worship. They do teach us to see the sacred in the world we share and in our bodies as temples of the divine.

Think of our heart. It is both a symbol of our recieving and giving love. It is also a pump that recieves blood, but must constrict befre it can again lovingly infuse life through our bodies.

In the same when we restrain our immediate pleasure we can empower the union of our bodoes with love and life.
